Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 21, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to bThere ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our scheduling and group management service (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information you provide (name, email, phone number, group/role details)

  • Usage data collected automatically (device/browser type, IP address, pages visited)

  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 4)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service

  • To authenticate you and keep you securely signed in

  • To send transactional emails and scheduling reminders (see Section 6)

  • To send optional SMS/text reminders you have opted into (see Section 7)

  • To record and honor your email and SMS opt-in/opt-out choices

  • To understand aggregate usage of the Service via analytics

  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Session cookies: essential cookies that keep you securely logged in to your account. These are required for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies: used by Google Analytics (Section 5). On your first visit, you'll see a cookie banner where you can accept or decline analytics cookies at any time; your choice is remembered in this browser.

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to help us understand how visitors use the Service. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as pages visited, time spent, and general location (derived from IP address), only when you have accepted analytics cookies. This information is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. We have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features within Analytics.

6. Email Communications and Consent

Transactional emails: account and billing notices (e.g. subscription confirmation, payment receipts, plan changes, cancellation confirmations) that are part of operating your account. These are not marketing and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

Reminder emails to your own account address: scheduling reminders for events or roles you or your group have set up, sent to the email address on your account. Every reminder email includes a clear link to opt out of future reminders and to report abuse, so you can always stop reminder emails or flag misuse directly from the message itself.

Reminder emails when an admin adds your address: if a group admin adds you as a contact using an email address that isn't already tied to your own account, we send a single notice to that address telling you who added you, to which group, and that scheduling reminders will follow. Reminders then begin for the events and roles that group assigns you to; you do not need to take any action to receive them. Every one of those messages — and the notice itself — carries a one-click unsubscribe, and opting out stops them immediately. We do not send marketing email to addresses added this way, or to any other address.

Unsubscribing: you can opt out from the unsubscribe control your email app shows next to the sender's name, from the unsubscribe and report-abuse link in the footer of every reminder, from the notice described above, or from your account's reminder-preferences setting. All four are honored immediately, and all four apply across every part of the Service that sends this kind of email — opting out of one group's reminders opts you out of all of them. No fee, login, or additional information is ever required. If you later want reminders again, you can re-enable them from your account's reminder-preferences setting.

Who a reminder appears to come from: reminder emails for a group are sent on that group's behalf and show the name of the group member the group has designated as its sender, with that member's email address used for replies. The message is delivered by us, from our own sending domain, and is identified as such. If you are that designated sender, this means your name and email address are visible to everyone who receives your group's reminders; a group owner or admin can change which member fills that role at any time in the group's settings.

We do not currently send promotional or marketing email of any kind. Communications are limited to the transactional and reminder purposes described above.

7. SMS/Text Message Communications and Consent

We offer an optional program that sends event/scheduling reminder text messages. Consent to receive these texts is never required to use the Service.

Opting in: you (or a phone-only contact, using a public opt-in form) can request reminder texts. We then send a one-time confirmation text, and no reminder texts are sent to that number until you reply START to confirm. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.

Opting out: reply STOP at any time to stop reminder texts to that number, or reply HELP for help. You can also manage this from your account's reminder-preferences setting. We never send a text message to a phone number without that number having replied START to confirm.

No sharing of opt-in data: text messaging originator opt-in data and consent (i.e., information about your SMS opt-in and your phone number collected in connection with this program) will not be shared with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We do not currently send promotional or marketing text messages of any kind — only the scheduling reminders described above.

Full program terms, including the sending number, are published at SMS Terms.

8. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration, and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

9. Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing, and withdrawal of consent. Our legal bases for processing include performance of a contract, your consent, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.

You can grant or withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time using the cookie banner shown on this site. To exercise any other rights under this section, contact us using the information in Section 13.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell your personal information. Our use of Google Analytics may be considered "sharing" under CPRA's broad definition even though it is not used for advertising. You can submit a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information request at any time on our CCPA opt-out page.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. This includes records of email and SMS opt-in/opt-out events, which we retain as evidence of consent and suppression decisions.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

13. Contact Us
